Shock-tober Slashing!
Crow Creek Free on Kindle Next Week
Hello all! My favorite month of the year is fast approaching and I wanted to tell you about a big promo I’ve got coming up to celebrate. The Kindle version of Crow Creek, Bettendorf Tales Book 2, will be FREE from Monday the 1st through Friday the 5th!! That’s right, it’s free!!! Zero, nada, zilch! Kindle version only.
During this promo I’d love to see Crow Creek rise up the Amazon ranking system, shaking up those algorithms and launching it into Horror Bestseller status! So, here’s what I need from you. On Monday the 1st, please go HERE and “buy” your free copy, whether you’ve already read the paperback or not.
Tell your friends, your family, your neighbors, and your dogs and cats. Anyone who has an Amazon account needs to get it–doesn’t matter if they own a Kindle or not. All they have to do is click “buy.” Spread the word!
Shocktober Horror Challenge
Through the month of October, I’m watching one horror movie or TV show per day. I usually attempt this feat, though I rarely make it happen. However, this year I’m really gonna do it! I’m still finalizing it right now, but here is my tentative list for the month, in no particular order (I’m leaving some open spots so I can adjust the list on the fly–and because a couple items are Netflix series, which will take more than one day).
- Halloween (1978)
- Halloween 2
- Halloween 3
- Halloween 4
- Halloween 5
- Halloween (2018)
- The Shining
- Sherlock Holmes and the Scarlet Claw
- Prom Night
- In the Mouth of Madness
- Suspiria (2018)
- Trick ‘r Treat
- REC
- Zombie
- Terrifier
- The Thing
- The Fog
- The Uninvited
- The Changeling
- Lake Mungo
- The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
- The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
- Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
- Hell House LLC
- Hell House LLC 2
- The Descent 2
- It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Thankfully Michelle and Reznor are horror fans too, so they’ll be happy to put up with this madness.
I’m sure you noticed I have a long list of Michael Myers films at the top. It’s sort of a tradition for me, as Halloween is my favorite horror franchise. If you’ve got any suggestions for the rest, let me know in the comments!
Upcoming Projects
I’ve had some messages about the expected release of Bettendorf Tales Book 3, and I don’t have anything firm yet. I am not very far into writing it, actually, so I don’t anticipate it being ready for at least a year. I’m hoping I can make it available by next October, but that will depend.
Right now I’m working on a different book, one I’m really excited about. Last year, when I was in Iowa for a book signing, my sister-in-law told me an awesome idea she had for my next book, so that’s what I’m currently working on. Unfortunately, that means I’ve had to put the Bettendorf series on hold for a bit.
The new book is set in Maquoketa, Iowa, and is sizing up to be a lot darker than my previous work. I’m about a third of the way through it, so it’s still early days, but I think it’s going to be good and scary when all is said and done.
Reviews Please!
Reviews are super helpful for a book/author in so many ways. They help me to get promos with places like Bookbub and other book promo websites, and reviews look good on Amazon–the novels with lots of reviews tend to get noticed.
And they don’t have to be anything huge–a short sentence or two is more than enough. So if you’ve read Devils Glen, Crow Creek, and/or Infinite Darkness (the horror anthology), please please please be kind and leave a quick and honest review!!! If you’re on Goodreads, leave one there too.
Well, that’s all for now! Please remember to pick up your FREE Kindle copy of Crow Creek next week!
