Here we go! This coming Tuesday is the big release and I’m super excited. Crazy excited…and nervous.
It’s been rather difficult to concentrate on the sequel this past month—which, by the way, has been the longest month in the history of time—but I’ve done my best to do some writing each week (my little rule of writing for at least 15 minutes per day hasn’t worked, lately). Still, I’m about 12,000 words into Crow Creek and I feel like it’s moving along nicely. It might be somewhat longer than Devils Glen, though I’m trying to keep it at around the same length. I want the pacing to pick up quickly and move fast throughout.
The rough draft is always a mishmash of crap that you spend a lot of time streamlining and cutting in the second draft. I hope to have a rough draft finished by July, but we’ll see about that. I’ll be happy if I get it done by August. That should still leave me enough time to have it edited a couple times and released within a year or so from now. Hopefully, I’ll be able to work out another deal with Kindle Press for the sequels.
Many of you have begun reading Devils Glen already (those who got a free advanced kindle copy). I hope you’re enjoying it. If you feel inspired to do so, please don’t hesitate to leave a review on the Amazon page. It’s always interesting to read what people think of it. Thankfully, the reviewers so far have been kind.
For those of you who prefer the feel of an actual book in your hands, there will be a paperback version available to order on Amazon, March 14th. The format is 6×9 mass market paperback and will retail for $16.95. I think you’ll all be quite impressed with the quality.
As of now, I don’t have any specific plans for a signing. I am talking to Dark Delicacies in Burbank, but nothing firm has been established yet. I would like to go back to Bettendorf for a signing at some point in the near future. I’m thinking about doing that in April or June. It would be fun to meet up with friends, old and new.
A few people have given me some good suggestions for places to hold a signing. If anyone else has a place, or an idea of a place, either in Bettendorf or Los Angeles, please let me know.
Ok, that’s all for now. If you are a Kindle owner, go ahead and pre-order your copy today. Otherwise, I’ll see you on March 14th.
I hope you have fun with Devils Glen!
